Sala Baganza Sanvitale Stronghold, nestled in the first hills of the Appennine, in the nearby of Baganza stream, had a primary importance inside Parma Castles defensing system. It shields precious frescoes and decorations, sixteenth century works by Samacchini, Campi and Baglione.
Stronghold’s rooms are home to the permanent exhibit of sculptress Jucci Ugolotti’s work. Inside Stronghold’s suggestive cellars and former ice house the Wine Museum has been fitted: a sensorial itinerary dedicated to Parma wine, its history and culture. Museum ticket is sold separately.
Sala Baganza Stronghold has been property, from 1258 and for over 350 years, of Sanvitale, than Farnese and Borbone. Today it is a long parallelepiped, delimited by the rests of two towers.
