Nestled in a rock, as defense of Tidone and Chiarone streams valleys, the Stronghold of Olgisio is one of the most ancient and suggestive strongholds in Piacenza’s area, surrounded by 6 wall rows. Founded around 1.000 a.C., it is home to some bedrooms, where it is possible to overnight. The mastio (fortified tower) is composed by some connecting spaces, that lead to a small sixteenth-century loggia.

Built around 1.000 a.C., after many owner, the castle wa given by Gian Galeazzo Visconti to Jacopo Dal Verme, the valiant winner of the battle where Alessandria fought against Florence. The stronghold has an irregular plant, whose only entrance is located in the castle’s North side and is accessible through a both steep and suggestive street.
