Established in May 2019 by Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore, the guesthouse extends their vision of hospitality beyond the acclaimed Osteria Francescana, creating a space where art, cuisine, music, and nature coexist harmoniously.
More than a hotel, Casa Maria Luigia is a “home away from home,” inviting guests to explore a personal collection of contemporary artworks, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, and design objects. Every element, from carefully selected vintage furnishings to bespoke designer pieces, has been chosen to cultivate an atmosphere of understated elegance and warmth.
The estate features a verdant park with a swimming pool and tennis court set amidst centuries-old oaks, as well as a flourishing vegetable garden that provides fresh, seasonal ingredients for the kitchens of Casa Maria Luigia, Osteria Francescana, Franceschetta58, and Cavallino.

• Kitchen Pantry: Accessible at all hours, the pantry offers a selection of gourmet treats and beverages for guests to enjoy at their leisure.
• Emilian Breakfast: Each morning, guests are welcomed with a traditional breakfast featuring local delicacies such as cotechino cooked under ashes, focaccia, omelets, handmade jams, ricotta di Rosola, and gnocco fritto with mortadella. Head Chef Jessica Rosval and her team ensure every dish reflects the authenticity and excellence of the region.
• Playground: This multifunctional space embodies Massimo Bottura’s passions for motorsport, art, and fitness. It features state-of-the-art Technogym equipment alongside an inspiring collection of artworks and memorabilia, celebrating Emilia-Romagna as a land of “slow food and fast machines.”
