Montegridolfo, a medieval village steeped in history, has endured centuries of strategic rivalry between Romagna and Marche.
Perched on the border dividing the territories of the Malatesta family of Rimini and the Montefeltro lords of Urbino, Montegridolfo’s Castle stands as a symbol of this historic conflict.
Dating back to the 13th century, the castle was once home to the noble Gridolfi family, situated amidst the Conca River Valley where the Malatesta and Montefeltro families competed for control.
Despite enduring raids and shifting dominions, Montegridolfo persevered. Notably, Count Nolfo of Urbino razed the village entirely in 1336, only for it to be rebuilt by Malatesta patriarch Galeotto the following year. Finally, in the 16th century, stability returned to the castle and the village under the firm control of the Malatesta family. Thanks to the efforts of local entrepreneurs and collaboration with the Municipality of Montegridolfo and the Emilia-Romagna Regional Authority, the Castle of Montegridolfo reopened its doors in 1994, meticulously restored to preserve its historic charm and architectural integrity.

The Queen rooms are adorned in rustic style, nestled amidst lush greenery. Located by the poolside, they all boast a splendid view of the garden of Palazzo Viviani Castello di Montegridolfo.
Meanwhile, the seven rooms of the Dimora del Pittore feature modern and warmly furnished interiors, offering an ideal setting to unwind and enjoy the magnificent panoramic pool nearby.
BORGO ANTICO
Eight charming studio apartments, with picturesque views of the winding alleys of the medieval village, are tastefully furnished in a rustic country style.
From these apartments, guests can admire the enchanting streets of Montegridolfo, as well as the rolling hills of Montefeltro and the sweeping vista stretching all the way to the Adriatic Sea.
Each studio bears a name evoking harmonious melodies: Accademia, Flauto, Arpa, Trombone, Mura, Orologio, Torrione.
